Chen Shaoqing Tortured at the Sanshui Female Labor Camp
Print  E-mail
Ms. Chen Shaoqing, female, was a teacher in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. On March 12, 2003, a policeman from the Ruiyun Police Station arrested her and brought her to the Sanshui Female Labor Camp, where she was brutally tortured. To protest this torture, Ms. Chen went on a hunger strike, which lasted for 27 days. She became extremely weak. The police started force-feeding her on the 3rd day of the hunger strike. Later they locked her up in a storage room that was used as a "black room."1  Ms. Chen was forced to squat for 10 continuous days in the room. Whenever she lost consciousness, a guard shocked her with an electric baton. She was not allowed to sleep or go to the rest room during the entire 10 days. The police and the other inmates, who were used to torture her, stuffed her mouth with cloth so they would not hear her screaming in pain from the torture she received.
