On October 12, 2000, five young Falun Gong practitioners distributed more than 10,000 Falun Gong flyers to several buildings in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. They were arrested and detained. On November 8, 2002, theywere sentenced in Futian District Court, Shenzhen City to jail terms ranging from 7-12 years.

The five Falun Gong practitioners were:

1.      Mr. Zhuang Wenshu, male, age 30, from Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Zhuang holds a master's degree and is the former manager of Meidi Company in Shenzhen City. He was sentenced to a prison term of 7 years.

2.      Mr. Li Fulin, male, age 33, from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, was also sentenced to 7 years.

3.      Mr. Li Zhenmin, male, age 34, from Huilai County, Guangdong Province. Mr. Li is  a former employee of Shenhua Company, Shenzhen City and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

4.      Mr. Chao Hao, male, age 27, from Xunyang County, Shanxi Province, a former employee of Xingtai Company, Shenzhen City. Mr. Chao was also sentenced to 10 years.

5.      Mr. Zhou Lei, male, age 33, from Guangxi Province, the former marketing manager at the Shenzhen Branch of Microsoft. Mr. Zhou was sentenced to 12 years detention.
