Yin Yuzhen was Detained and Tortured for Distributing Flyers

Ms. Yin Yuzhen, female, 65, resident of 597 Farm, Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province. Since July 21, 1999, Ms. Yin has been harassed and detained  many times because she practices Falun Gong. The leader of the 597 Farm Police Bureau, Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province, monitored her daily activities 24 hours a day. On November 4, 2000, Ms. Yin was arrested because she distributed Falun Gong flyers. She was detained for 21 days at Baoqing County Detention Center, Heilongjiang Province. Her family members have been threatened and her home was ransacked. On July 9, 2001, the local police took Ms. Yin to the 597 Farm Police Bureau. She was detained for 71 days and charged 1,050 Yuan RMB. During the detention, Ms. Yin went on a hunger strike for 20 days.
