1.       Practitioners Detained and Sentenced Under the Charge of “Illegal Assembly” in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province

Ms. Chen Li, female, was arrested by Shenyang City police and charged with “illegal assembly.” She was sentenced to imprison for two years.

Ms. Zu Liming, female, was arrested by Shenyang City police. Ms. Zu’s present situation is unclear.

Mr. Yan Hongwei, male, 37, Chen Li’s husband, an employee of The Second Printing Factory, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, former main contact person of Falun Gong in Shenyang City. He was arrested on October 15, 2000 and was detained in the Yushutun Detention Center in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment.

Mr. Miao Qisheng, male, 39, Zu Liming’s husband, an employee of the Institute of Information, the Scientific Committee in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He was arrested in October 1999 and was detained in the Yushutun Detention Center, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Heping District Court, Shenyang City.

2.       Persecution on Li’s Family  

Mr. Li Tianmin, male, in his 30s, former contact person of Falun Gong  in Weifang City, Shandong Province. He was arrested on July 20, 1999 for organizing Falun Gong activities in Weifang City. He has been detained since.

On February 2, 2000, he was tried at the Intermediate Court of Weifang City and sentenced to 4 years’ in prison. Li Tianmin has been subjected to various tortures in prison.

In March 2000, he was sent to Weibei Farm in Weifang City to serve his term. His wife Ms. Lou Hongmei (also a Falun Gong practitioner) was frequently harassed, detained, tapped during phone conversations, and was living under constant surveillance.

3.       Mi Youping Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Practicing Falun Gong Exercises in the Tiananmen Square

Ms. Mi Youping, female, born on February 27, 1956, Han ethnicity, technical school graduate, address: Building 3, Nanyuan, Chagang New Village, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She was arrested for attending the experience sharing conference in Guangzhou City in November 1999. On February 22, she was arrested in Beijing because she practiced Falun Gong exercises in Tiananmen Square. She was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

4.       Liang Zhaohui Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Practicing Falun Gong Exercises in the Tiananmen Square

Ms. Liang Zhaohui, female, born on July 14, 1969, Han ethnicity, technical school graduate, address: Rm. 102, Suite 3, Pingdong Road #1, Nan District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. She attended the experience sharing conference in Guangzhou in November 1999, and was arrested and sent back to Qingdao City. On February 22, she was arrested in Beijing because she practiced Falun Gong exercises in Tiananmen Square. She was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.

5.       Yu Yufang Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Sharing Experiences with Fellow Falun Gong Practitioners

Ms. Yu Yufang, female, 50, the factory manager of the Ice Factory of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. 21 fellow practitioners and her were all detained for sharing experiences at one practitioner’s home on October 21, 1999. She was sentenced to 3-years in prison and three others were sentenced to four-years, 3-and-half-years, and one-year in prison. The rest were all detained. Their family members and friends were not allowed to visit them.

6.       Hua Wei Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Sharing Experiences sharing with Other Falun Gong Practitioners

Mr. Hua Wei, male, from Beijing. In February 2000, Hua Wei was arrested while experience sharing with fellow practitioners in February 2000 in Shanghai. Hua was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment at his second trial in November 2000. His whereabouts are unknown.

7.       Sun Jijun Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Arranging Shuttle Buses for a Falun Gong Conference in Jilin Province

Sun Lijun, from Changchun City, Jilin Province. Sun Lijun was arrested for arranging Beijing-bound shuttle buses for an experience sharing conference and sentenced to two years in prison, leaving a 12-year-old child and an elderly mother at home with no one to look after them.

8.       Zhan Peilan Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Arranging Falun Gong Practice in Sichuan Province

Ms. Zhan Peilan, female, a retired worker of Dajiang Vehicle Factory, Chongqing City, Sichuan Province. Zhan Peilan shared experiences of practicing Falun Gong with two practitioners from Changchun City during the time from December 26 to 31, 1999. She initiated a group of 10 people to do exercises in a football field from 5:00 to 6:00 in the morning. She also rented a room in Yutong County for group study of Falun Gong books. Zhan Peilan was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment under the charge of “using an evil cult organization to violate the law.”

9.       Yang Shuping Arrested for Practicing Falun Gong in Shahe City

Yang Shuping, a resident of Shahe City, Hebei Province. In April 2001, Yang Shuping was arrested and sent to prison by the Shahe City Police Station Officer Jia Qifang in April 2001 for practicing Falun Gong.

10.  Zhao Jianmei Sentenced to 3 Years for Practicing Falun Gong in Hebei Province

Ms. Zhao Jianmei, female, a resident of Qiji Village, Qiji Township, Pingshan County, Hebei Province. Ms. Zhao Jianmei was sentenced to three years in Taihang Prison, Mancheng County, Baoding City, Hebei Province for practicing Falun Gong.

11.  Hong Pingping Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Telling about Falun Gong in Shanghai

Ms. Hong Pingping, female, from Shanghai. Ms. Hong Pingping was sentenced to seven years’ of imprisonment for supporting and talking with others about Falun Gong.

12.  Wu Dan Sentenced to 4 Years for Visiting a Fellow Practitioner in Beijing

Ms. Wu Dan, Female, Chaoyang District, Beijing. Ms. Wu Dan was arrested by Chaoyang District Police Station. On May 28, 2000, Chaoyang District Police Station in Beijing arrested Ms. Wu Dan on May 28, 2000 while visiting a Falun Gong practitioner’s home. She was detained in Chaoyang District Detention Center. In November 2000, Chaoyang District People’s Court sentenced Ms. Wu to 4 years of imprisonment.
