1.      Nanma brainwashing class, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.

2.      The custodial center where Chen was detained, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.

Perpetrators:

1.      Wang Zhenhe and Yang Jianli, policemen of Liyunchang Police Station, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.

2.      Head and staff of the “610” office of Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province.

Description:

Chen Rongchao and his wife were spotted by Wang Zhenhe and Yang Jianli (two policemen from the Liyunchang Police Station) while they were promoting Falun Gong. The two policemen beat the old couple and put Chen Rongchao in a custodial center while his wife was sent to the Nanma brainwashing class, which opposed the teachings of Falun Gong. The Zhuozhou City “610 office”(in charge of Falun Gong issues) not only beat up the old couple, but also wanted to extort money from their family. They requested that family members pay a ransom of 40,000 Yuan (about 6 or 7 years annual income for an average city household); however, since the family did not have very much money, the “610 Office” issued orders for family members to report to the police station everyday.
