Ms. Wang Shuqin, female, in her 50’s, resident of Changchun City, Jilin Province, was detained at the No. 3 Detention Center in Changchun City because she practices Falun Gong. In 2002, because she went on a hunger strike to protest the detention, the police dripped corrosive liquid into her nose, burning the inside of her nose badly.

In July 2003, Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike again to protest the detention. As a result, she was tortured and forced to wear handcuffs and shackles. The handcuffs were connected to the shackles such that she could not stand up. Prison officials Guo Jin and Doctor Yi pierced all her fingertips with needles. During her 30 days’ hunger strike, she was tortured in this way on 25 days.
