In July 2001, the police of Zhengding County arrested her for the second time. During the interrogation, in order to force Ms. Bai to cooperate with them, police beat her until she lost consciousness. Then the police sent her to the county hospital for emergency treatment. A hospital nurse observed that her legs were covered with bruises from beatings. After detaining her for two months, the police sentenced Ms. Bai to three years of forced labor and transferred her to Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Bai was tortured in the labor camp because she refused to denounce Falun Gong.
Around May 2002, after being detained and tortured for eight months Ms. Bai’s left leg muscles atrophied and she was disabled.
