Changle Labor Camp Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners Mentally and Physically
Print  E-mail

Since July 20, 1999, many Falun Gong practitioners have been detained in the Changle Labor Camp in Weifang City, Shandong Province, where they have been tortured because they refused to give up their beliefs. Since October 2000, the camp authorities put over 150 male practitioners into two squadrons under the No. 2 Brigade and have systematically tortured them both mentally and physically.

During October 2000 and February 2001, the camp authorities ordered a dozen inmates to torture practitioners and gave those inmates rewards or reduced terms. The guards and inmates have used the following methods:

Beatings and Torture using Tools

1.      Practitioners' hands and feet were bound with tape, and then tied to desks or bed legs for a long time. Some practitioners were tortured on a “tiger bench”[1]. As a result, practitioners had difficulty walking afterwards.

2.      The guards and inmates used their fingers to jab practitioners’ eyes and testicles; sometimes they gouged and pinched their testicles. Mr. Yao Hexing was tortured in this way.

3.      Practitioners were shocked with electric batons, causing bruises all over their bodies. Once, guard Zhu Weile and his fellows shocked Mr. Hu Xinming (in his 40s, a farmer from Changyi City) so badly that he rolled back and forth on the floor in pain.

4.      Practitioners were forced to sit on the concrete floor with their legs stretched forward and their hands on their feet. Then guards and inmates pressed the practitioners' backs down, causing many severe back injuries. Some practitioners could not stand straight afterwards.

5.      The guards and inmates used their fists and palms to hit practitioners; they kicked the practitioners with their leather shoes and tortured practitioners with wooden batons. All practitioners’ bodies were black and blue. Some practitioners had their pants stripped off and were whipped with a triangular-shaped belt. As a result, the body of Mr. Wang Ping (in his 30s, a resident of Gaomi City) was bruised, lacerated, and covered with blood. Mr. Liu Shuchun (in his 40s, a resident of Changyi City) was tortured to death in this way in October 2000.

6.      Practitioners were forced to take off their shoes and socks. Their hands and feet were bound with tape, and then inmates used scissors to stab and scrape the soles of their feet. Mr. Wu Dajun (in his 70s, a retired teacher from Changyi City) was tortured in this way.
