Xiong Jinze, male, 31, is a resident of Changsha City, Hunan Province. In October 1999, Mr. Xiong went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. As a result, he was arrested, and sentenced to three years of forced labor at Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp, Changsha City, Hunan Province. On March 13, 2002, since Mr. Xiong refused to renounce Falun Gong, he was confined in a small solitary cell (two meters long, one meter wide, and two meters high, with double iron gates) for seven consecutive days and nights. He had to eat, live, and relieve himself inside this cell. At the same time, Mr. Xiong was forced to wear a heavy, tight jacket, as well as a weighted, hooded helmet. There was constant pressure at all times on Mr. Xiong’s chest to ensure that he was constantly short of breath, and his hands were tightly tied in front of his body. He was so restricted that he didn’t have the strength or the mobility to move around. Meanwhile, the camp guards ordered two inmates to insult him and tortured him psychologically around the clock. Mr. Xiong is still being detained and tortured at the forced labor camp. |
