64-year-old practitioner Ms. Chen Jun of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province was free of illness after practicing Falun Gong. In May 2001, because she practiced Falun Gong, she was sentenced to three years of forced labor in Longshang Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. During her two years of imprisonment, she contracted diabetes in May 2002, which caused one eye to lose sight, with the other eye retaining vision of only 0.2 due to symptoms of glaucoma. Ms. Chen also has life-threatening symptoms of brain thrombus. In order to shirk responsibility, the labor camp’s police hurriedly released Ms. Chen in mid-July 2003.

On March 8, 2002, police from Sanhao Street Police Station in Shenyang City arrested Ms. Chen’s three children, Ms. Jin Tian, 32 years old, a resident at Honghu Street, Yuhong District in Shenyang City; Ms. Jin Cai, in her 30’s; and Mr. Jin Yu, less than 30 years old for making Falun Gong information materials. They were detained at Shenyang City Detention Center. In October 2002, Gaoxin District Court in Shenyang City sentenced Ms. Jin Tian , Ms. Jin Cai and Mr. Jin Yu to 13 years, 12 years, and 11 years of imprisonment, respectively. Ms. Jin Tian was later sent to Dabei Supervising Hospital in Shenyang City.

Ms. Chen's three children were perfectly well and healthy before being detained. During their imprisonment, they all suddenly contracted pulmonary tuberculosis. Among them, Ms. Jin Cai was found with water in her lungs; she has become emaciated. The police beat Mr. Jin Yu, and broke his ribs while interrogating him at a local police station. They did not give Mr. Jin treatment for his broken ribs, and the broken ribs contacted his lung, causing lung cysts. He coughed all day long.
