In early 2001, Ms. Yang Chunfang, female, resident of Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, was sent to the Second Branch of the Second Team at the Second Women's Center at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. During the detention, she was often beaten, not allowed to use the restroom or to change her underwear when she could not control her bladder.
One night in March 2001, guards ordered inmates to beat Ms. Yang, and her body was black and blue afterwards. Another day in March 2001, inmate Tao Shuhong beat Ms. Yang badly, causing serious injuries to her chest. Ms. Yang cried terribly while being beaten. Once, four inmates pressed Ms. Yang down on her face, folded her legs up from behind, and beat her. Ms. Yang was unable to walk for a long period of time.
At the end of 2001, Ms. Yang was deprived of any rest and tortured by inmates who took half-day shifts to torture her, with four inmates per shift. Inmates pressed her down on the tiled floor, tightly tied her mouth from behind her head, folded upward her legs from behind her back, and beat her. Ms. Yang was then lifted up into the air and dropped heavily to the floor. Later, she was forced to half squat while one heavier inmate sat on her lower back and beat her. Ms. Yang couldn't bear her weight and fell to the floor. As result, a bone in Yang's leg was broken under the weight. In the next morning, Ms. Yang could only walk with the support of others, her body was black and blue all over, and her jaw had been dislocated. She was then sent to the camp hospital for emergency treatment.
One day in 2002, inmates forced Ms. Yang to sit on the floor with both legs straight and both arms on her legs, and to bend her head between her legs. Then two inmates sat on her back and beat her. Since this torture, she has never been able to walk with her back straight, and she has been unable to take care herself. For a long period of time, she was unable to walk and needed others to carry her. Even so, the camp did not allow her to be bailed out for medical treatment, and sentenced her to three years of forced labor. |
