Ms. Qiu Cuixiang, in her 50’s, of Chongqing City, has been detained twice at the Chongqing Women’s Forced Labor Camp (also known as Maoshan Women’s Forced Labor Camp) because of her practice of Falun Gong.

In May 2001, Ms. Cuixiang was publicly humiliated in the labor camp. Two policemen grabbed her, tied her up with ropes, and sealed her mouth with adhesive tape. A discipline director used fingers to pinch Ms. Cuixiang’s face, and verbally humiliated her. She was handcuffed behind her back and hung up for more than four months. In the day, she was hung up on the high window bars and her feet could barely touch the ground. Two persons watched her. At night she was hung up to the upper bunk bed frame, while at the same time she was deprived of sleep. When she was sleepy, the criminals used needles to pinch her eyes, or brutally beat her up. She suffered from bone fractures in many parts of her body, and was tied in a torture instrument for more than half a year. Because of the harsh environment, her body was covered with blisters. The police ordered five to six criminals to violently force feed her with drugs, and extend her term one more year.

Moreover, her hair was intentionally cut to a very strange shape, and a big board with her name on it was hung on her neck. Because Ms. Cuixiang stated, “Falun Dafa is Good”, her torturers wrapped and covered her face (including nose) with tape. Once, one torturer was found using a plastic wrapper to try to suffocate her.

After being released from the labor camp, Ms. Cuixiang was kidnapped by police in January 2003 on a bus to Jianyang. She was detained and tortured in Chengdu City Detention Center. At the end of March she was released, but then taken away by the Wuhou District Public Security Bureau of Chengdu City. She was detained in Wuhou District anti-Falun Gong brainwashing center. On March 28, the center’s doctor found her spine abnormal. The exam in the hospital showed that her spine had 2/3 atrophy fractures, so the hospital doctor suggested that she lie in bed and take good nutrition. Now Ms. Cuixiang is unable to take care her daily life because of the fracture. On March 31, 2003, the police from Wuhou District Public Security Bureau transferred her from the brainwashing center to Chengdu City Detention Center and sentenced her to two years of forced labor.
