Zhou Zhi Tortured and Sentenced for 11 Years in Jail
Print  E-mail

Mr. Zhou Zhi, male, from Benxi City, Liaoning Province. In July 2003, policemen from the Pingshan Police Sub-Bureau in Benxi City arrested Mr. Zhou Zhi, a Falun Gong practitioner, at his home. They sent Mr. Zhou to the Caibei Detention Center, where he was tortured for many days. To protest the mistreatment, Mr. Zhou started a hunger strike soon after he was arrested. Now, more than four months later, his condition is very serious. The policemen from the detention center have force-fed Mr. Zhou so brutally that he has become extremely weak. In early November 2003, the Pingshan District Court in Benxi City sentenced Mr. Zhou to 11 years in prison. At the time of the sentencing, he was too weak to be able to walk to the court. Two people had to hold and drag him there. We are very concerned about Mr. Zhou’s life since it has been nearly five months since the start of his hunger strike.
