Mr. Gao Hui, male, 49, from Beiqing Village, Liutiao Township, Dengta City, Liaoning Province. In April 2001, policemen of Tong’erbao Police Sub-Bureau, Dengta City arrested him and his wife and fined them 1,000 Yuan. Mr. Gao was detained for 27 days in Dengta City Detention Center and 18 days in Liaoyang Detention Center. The local police kidnapped him again in October 2001, but he managed to escape. From then on, Mr. Gao had to leave his home and wander around.

In August 2002, policemen found him with three other practitioners and arrested them all. Mr. Gao was beaten so brutally that his eyes were full of blood and unable to see anything. His face became badly swollen and he lost two teeth. His leg was also hurt. On August 9, 2002, Mr. Gao was sent to Liaoyang Detention Center. On November 6, 2002, the Dengtai Court sentenced Mr. Gao to seven years in jail on the charge of distributing Falun Gong flyers. After he denied the charges, another three years were added to his term. During the sentencing, no lawyer was allowed to defend Mr. Gao, and his family was not notified. In January 2003, Gao Hui was sent to Dabei Jail, Shenyang City, then transferred to Wafangdian Jail Training Center. Presently, the Center is detaining and persecuting more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners, all illegally given heavy sentences.
