On December 7, 2002, Ms. Sun Fengjie and Ms. Wang Guanrong, residents of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, give a taxi driver a Falun Gong flyer. The taxi driver then reported them to the authorities. The Jixian County police arrested the two practitioners and sent them to the detention center. They were interrogated and tortured.
Between December 12 and 14, Ms. Sun and Ms. Wang were interrogated for a total of nearly 50 hours. A task force was established in Shuangyashan City just for dealing with the two practitioners, comprised of 14 people from the county police department and the 610 Office 1 , they took turns interrogated and tortured Ms. Sun and Ms. Wang. The police punched and kicked them, struck them across the face, and grabbed their ears. The police also forced them to hold a posture of bending at 90 degrees at the waist with their legs spread wide, arms raised backwards, and head down. When they could not hold this position any longer, they were kicked in the face. Ms. Wang was forced to keep that posture for nearly two hours. The prison guards repeatedly Ms. Wang’s spine repeatedly. As a result, she was covered with cuts and bruises. She was unable to walk for two weeks and coughed up blood for days. Ms. Sun, on the other hand, was smothered with a plastic bag. She was in such a severe condition that the police had to drag her back into her holding cell. She was forced to remain standing for 12 hours and then to stand barefoot for 2 hours in severe cold. As a result of the torture, she had swelling all over her body and could not walk.
Once a policeman named Dai set Ms. Sun’s hair on fire with a cigarette lighter. The police in turn stomped on the practitioners’ feet with their boots, breaking Ms. Wang’s shoes in the process. On May 10, 2003, the Shuangyashan City Court held secret trails for Ms. Sun Fengjie, Ms. Wang Guanrong and four other Falun Gong practitioners. |
