Mr. Deng Quanzhong, male, 58 years old, from the Town of Chengguan, Taikang County, Zhoukou area, Henan Province. In September 1999, Mr. Deng went to Beijing to appeal to the Central Government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. He was arrested in Beijing and sent back to the Taikang County Police Bureau Detention Center. Mr. Deng was later sentenced to 3 years of forced labor to be served at the Kaifeng Labor Camp. He went on a hunger strike as his last means to protest the injustices committed against him. Police working at the labor camp force-fed him, knocking out his two front teeth in the process. Mr. Deng was forced to do heavy labor work despite his extremely weak state. The police handcuffed him and hung him in a suspended position so he could not sit down for a very long time. Police also burned his arms with cigarettes, leaving many visible scars.
In the fall of 2002, when Mr. Deng’s extended prison term was over, the “610 Office” instead brought him to the Taikang County Detention Center. In August 2003, Mr. Deng was secretly transferred to the Taikang County Police Bureau Detention Center for further persecution.
*The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.
