A Brief Report of the Incident:
In September 2000, Li Guanglian was detained for three days by the Yishui County Education Board because she practices Falun Gong. She was sent to the Gaozhuang Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class where she was beaten unconscious.
In December 2000, Ms. Li was arrested again by authorities of the Yishui County government and sent to Fengjiazhuang Village Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class. Hao Guijin and Li Ming of the Politics and Law Committee and other staff members beat Ms. Li. They insulted her and whipped at her entire back and legs with bamboo strips until Ms. Li lost consciousness. After they poured cold water on her to revive her, they continued with the beating. Hao Guijin stripped off Ms. Li’s clothes and lift up her underwear to beat her with bamboo strips. Ms. Li’s underwear was soon soaked in blood.
A few weeks later, Ms. Li was arrested with her 5-year-old daughter and sent to the brainwashing class again. Since Ms. Li refused to renounce Falun Gong. Li Ming of Politics and Law Committee and other staffs beat her with their fists and bamboo strips. They kicked her until Ms. Li lost consciousness.
In March 2001, Ms. Li was arrested again and sent to the brainwashing class. Hao Guijin and the director of the Politics and Law Committee, Gao Zhongping, cursed and beat Ms. Li. Li Hongwei joined in the beating and fiercely gripped her hair. Ms. Li’s face was covered with bruises from the beating. They poured cold water on her to freeze her. Ms. Li lost consciousness in the torture. Later Ms. Li was released. To get away from the repeated harassment and torture Ms. Li has to leave her home, and wander about. The local authorities went to her home a couple of times to look for her, but could not find her. Currently Ms. Li’s situation is unknown.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
On July 22, 1999, Zhao Chuanwen went to Beijing, appealing to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Therefore Zhao Chuanwen was detained for six days and fined 3,000 Yuan RMB.
In October 1999, Zhao Chuanwen was locked up for 15 days for talking about Falun Gong with others. Later he was sent to Mengyin County Detention Center and detained for a month. He was fined 1,500 Yuan RMB.
In February 2000, after Zhao Chuanwen went to Beijing to appeal again, people in the Duozhuang Town Government ransacked his home. He was detained for one month and put into an Anti-Falun Gong brainwashing class for two months where he was tortured and fined another 11,000 Yuan RMB.
In fall 2000, the policemen from the Duozhuang Town Police Station found Zhao Chuanwen distributing Falun Gong flyers. They tampered with his motorcycle and tried to arrest him. However, Zhao Chuanwen managed to escape. To avoid further persecution, Zhao Chuanwen has not returned home since then.
Zhao Chuanwu had the same experience as his brother Zhao Chuanwen. On July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. He was detained for six days and fined 3,000 Yuan RMB.
In February 2000, Zhao Chuanwu went to Beijing to appeal again. Hearing that, the local authorities ransacked his home. They detained him for one month after he was escorted back to Mengyin County. Later he was detained at an anti-Falun Gong brainwashing class for more than two months and fined 11,000 Yuan RMB by the Duozhuang Town Government.
In fall 2000, the policemen from the Duozhuang Town Police Station found several Falun Gong books in his home. They attempted to arrest him and fine him 5,600 Yuan RMB. They have already confiscated his tricycle (Three-wheeled bicycle with a tow). Under such circumstances, Zhao Chuanwu has to stay away from home to avoid the impending arrest, detention, and other kinds of persecution. Now Zhao Chuanwu is wandering about homeless.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
In November of 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Yu Xiliu was arrested and detained at the Longkou City Liaison Office because he went to Beijing appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. The officers from the Longkou City Liaison Office in Beijing cuffed Mr. Yu’s two hands to his back in such a way that one hand came down from behind his head and the other hand came up from the bottom of his back. Ms. Yu was cuffed in this way and kept outdoors for a long time in the freezing cold. After Mr. Yu was escorted back to his hometown, the officials beat Mr. Yu with electric batons and rubber sticks. They held him in the local detention center for fifteen days, where the guards gave him much less food than what they gave to other inmates.
In February of 2001, Mr. Yu was forced to attend an anti-Falun Gong brainwashing class held by the 610 Office in Longkou City, Shandong Province, where he was videotaped and tortured. In order to avoid further persecution, Mr. Yu escaped from the brainwashing class and is now homeless.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
On July 25, 1999, Yuan Kun was arrested by the Fangzi District Police Station and detained in the Great Wall Hotel in Fangzi District, Weifang City for three days and fined RMB 1,500 Yuan, because Mr. Yuan practices Falun Gong.
On December 27, 1999, Mr. Yuan went to Beijing to appeal for the right of practicing Falun Gong and was beaten by the police of the Tiananmen Police Station and police of Weifang City Liaison Office in Beijing. After Mr. Yuan was escorted back to his hometown, he was detained at the Weifang City Detention Center for one month.
In February 2000, Chief Jiang of the Fangzi District Police Station confiscated Mr. Yuan’s Falun Gong books and videotapes. In March 2000, Mr. Yuan was detained for fifteen days because he refused to give up Falun Gong. After that, his employer stopped paying him salary. On October 1, 2000, personnel of the Mucun Town Government moved into Mr. Yuan’s home and supervised his family 24 hours a day. They had been harassing Mr. Yuan’s family for almost half a year.
On May 3, 2001, police from the Mucun Town Police Station went to Mr. Yuan’s home and tried to arrest him and his family members. Mr. Yuan and his wife had to leave their home and wander about. The local police have still gone to their home and nearby hospitals to look for them.

Song Bingfa and his wife Wang Yongping were detained several times because they are Falun Gong practitioners. Their house was ransacked.
In the year 2000 Mr. Song and Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. They were arrested and detained for a month. Afterwards, heads of the Lanling Winery in Mengyin County detained them for another three months.
In July 2000, the police of the Mengyin County Police Station arrested and detained them for fifteen days. Mr. Song and Ms. Wang were fired from their jobs. The police of the Mengyin County Police Station kept on pressing them to renounce Falun Gong. To avoid further persecution, Mr. Song and Ms. Wang decided to leave home and are now wandering about in other cities.

Brief Report of the Incident:
In July 1999, Lu Renjuan was detained for several months at the local police station because she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong. After released, Ms. Lu went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong and was arrested. Ms. Lu was escorted back and detained for fifteen days by the Longkou City Government. Ms. Lu was then sent to the Xiadingjia Hospital and detained there until Jan. 28, 2000 by the Xiadingjia Town Government. Ms. Lu was fined 2,000 Yuan RMB before she was released. During her detention, her son Liang Bing was also detained for fifteen days because he sent some food to his mother.
On February 2, 2000, Ms. Lu was detained again for a few days by the authorities of the Xiadingjia Town Government where she was beaten. In March 2000, the Longkou Municipal Government humiliated Ms. Lu by forcing her to parade through the streets as a convicts. They jailed her until May 2000.
In September 2000, the Xiadingjia Town Government once again tried to detain Ms. Lu. In order to avoid further detention and persecution, Ms. Lu left home. Her niece Lu Yanna was under the same persecution and compelled to leave home. When they could not find Ms. Lu, the local police ransacked her home and detained Ms. Lu’s older sister, Lu Renying, and her younger sister.
In January 2000, Liang Bing went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. He was arrested and escorted back to Xiadingjia Town. He was detained for more than 35 days and fined 5,000 Yuan RMB. In February 2001, Liang Bing was also forced to leave home to avoid persecution. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
On January 1, 2001, Feng Xunhong went to Beijing appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Mr. Feng was arrested and sent to the Changziying Police Station in Daxing County, Beijing. Police stripped Mr. Feng naked and poured ice water on him. They shocked him all over the body with electric batons. Mr. Feng was tortured three to four hours every day for three consecutive days. Mr. Feng was then sent to the Daxing County Detention Center. Upon his returning home, the police from the Juye County Police Station attempted to put him under custody. To avoid further torture and detention, Mr. Feng had to leave home. Not getting Mr. Feng, the police arrested his wife Zhang Xuemei, and detained at a detention center. Mr. Feng’s eleven-year-old child is left home unattended.

1.8 Yu Ruiying and Her Husband Became Homeless to Avoid Further Persecution

A Brief Report of the Incident:
Yu Ruiying went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong on July 21, 1999. Ms. Yu was arrested, and escorted back to Haiyang City, and detained at an Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class. After Ms. Yu released from the class, she wrote a letter to the local political department to explain how she had benefited from practicing Falun Gong. Once again Ms. Yu was sent to the brainwashing class. On February 4, 2000, Ms. Yu was held in custody for having stepped out of her house. The next day, she practiced Falun Gong meditation exercises outdoors and was detained for fifteen days.
The police pressured Ms. Yu and her husband’s work places to force her to give up Falun Gong through her husband. They gave her husband three options:
1. He would have to keep close supervision on her and prevent her from appealing or practicing Falun Gong. Otherwise they would suspend his salary.
2. The work place would send someone to keep surveillance on her, but he has to pay for the cost.
3. They would send her to the mental hospital and he has to pay for the drugs used.
Without any alternatives, her husband Qi Xuekuai chose the first proposal. Mr. Qi had to report to the work place everyday about his wife. Because of the mental torture, Mr. Qi was unable to work for a month. Yet the police of the Haiyang City Police Station kept on threatening him. Finally Mr. Qi could not bear the pressure any more and went away, leaving Ms. Yu and their daughter at home. On July 20, 2000, Ms. Yu went to visit her mother. Hearing that, the police from the Haiyang Police Station immediately went to arrest Ms. Yu, carrying a camera with them. By the time they arrived, Ms. Yu had left for her younger sister’s house. The police headed there immediately. Ms. Yu managed to escape, but she could not go home. The police constantly threaten Ms. Yu’s daughter, a high school student. This younger girl's performance at school is affected by the aggravating situation.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
On December 21, 1999, Liang Guiai went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Mr. Liang was escorted back to Jinan City and detained at the University’s Security Department for seven days. Mr. Liang was pressured to write the statement of renounce Falun Gong. If not, he would be expelled from the school. Ms. Liang’s parents were called to the university. Mr. Liang’s parents were lied to and threatened. After seven days and nights of interrogation and threats, Mr. Liang expelled from the school. On January 1, 2000, Mr. Liang went to Beijing to appeal for the second time. He was arrested again and escorted back to his hometown of Longkou City in Shandong Province. Mr. Liang was therefore detained. During the detention, he was beaten and hung up. Eventually he managed to escape. Mr. Liang is homeless now and begging for food. Mr. Liang’s appearance has greatly changed due to the life on the street. He lost his glasses and his teeth were broken. Wearing tattered clothes, he is penniless.

Brief Report of the Incident
In October 1999, with three months pregnancy Yang Zhifang went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. She was arrested and escorted back to Weifang City’s Husbandry and Veterinarian School and detained for nearly sixty days. She was then fired from the Weifang City Husbandry and Veterinarian School. The school administration often sent people to monitor and harass Ms. Yang. They even created a schedule in which different employees in various school departments took turns watching her. In March 2000, she was threatened to be detained in an Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class if she refused to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong. Her mother-in-law was forced to write down the statement for her by the school.
On September 5, 2001, Ms. Yang was told to go to Secretary Qiao’s office by Zhou Qihu, the head of the Anatomy and Physiology Department. They were planning to send Ms. Yang to an Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class. However Ms. Yang refused and managed to escape from the office. Currently, Ms. Yang is living on the street.
Her husband, Hua Yuliang, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. He was sentenced 3-years forced labor in the Changle Detention Center, because he went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong.

In late 1999, the authorities of City Construction Department of Mengyin County detained Teng Derong for fifteen days because she practiced Falun Gong exercises. On February 4, 2000, Ms. Teng went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. She was arrested and detained for a month. Her Communist Party membership was revoked and she was fired from work. Ms. Teng has been constantly harassed by local authorities ever since. Ms. Teng has to leave her hometown to avoid expected persecution.
At midnight on September 29, 2001, following the directions of Li Zhiye, seven policemen ransacked Ms. Teng’s home. Before that, the police had intruded into her home many times to harass her family members.

After that the police from the Duozhuang Town Police Station continued to harass him. So Mr. Liu had to leave home to avoid further persecution.

On October 15, 2000, Ms. Yan went to Beijing to appeal again and was escorted back to Huanglou Town. This time Ms. Yan was beaten unconscious three times. Ms. Yan was poured cold water on to wake up. Ms. Yan was covered with bruises from the knees to the back. Her face was swollen. Ms. Yan was again fined 5,000 Yuan RMB. Many types of tortures were used on Ms. Yan. After forty days of detention, Ms. Yan escaped. At present her whereabouts are unknown.

In 1999, Yang Jianmei went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Therefore Ms. Yang was sent to Changle Mental Hospital and detained there for several days. On October 1, 2000, Ms. Yang went Beijing to appeal again and was detained for fifteen days. After her release, Ms. Yang was sent to the Wangliu Town by her company, and she was beaten there. Later, her work place detained her. Wang Jimei ordered to lock her up in a small room. Sixteen people took turns to watch her. Ms. Yang left her work place on October 19 and returned home. Wang Jimei sent twenty people to her house to arrest her. Ms. Yang escaped by jumping from the second floor. Now her whereabouts are unknown.

Therefore, in February 2001, Mr. Hao became homeless to avoid the brainwashing class.

In May 2001, the Shandong University accepted Pang back and tried to force Pang to slander Falun Gong. Pang refused to do so and was pressured and threatened by the school. Mr. Ren was also sent to an Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class. Mr. Ren was forced to flee his home. Mr. Ren had to leave behind his 90-year-old father and 13-year-old son unattended. They are both under constant surveillance by police. The police denied their relatives the right to take care of them.

Ms. Zhou was told that she could be released as long as she signed a letter stating that she would not go to the Appeals Office and would stop practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Zhou was locked up in the hospital for 81 days and was fined 6,000 Yuan. Ms. Zhou had to leave home and become destitute to avoid more persecution.

Mr. Jia was cuffed to an iron chair in the brainwashing class for fifteen days. Later, he was sent to another Anti-Falun Gong Brainwashing Class in Anqiu City. Mr. Jia managed to escape. Zhang Yuelan went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong twice in 2000. As a result, Ms. Zhang was detained for two months at the Anqiu Detention Center. On October 27, 2000, Ms. Zhang was arrested and detained for distributing Falun Gong flyers. After released, Ms. Zhang is homeless now.

A Brief Report of the Incident
In December 1999, Li Xiuzhen went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. Therefore Ms. Li was detained for one month at the Anqiu Detention Center. In the year 2000, Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal twice and her house was searched three times by the police. Ms. Li was arrested and detained for distributing Falun Gong flyers on October 27, 2000. After her release, the police of the Anqiu City Police Station and her school dispatched many people to keep her under surveillance 24 hours a day. Three days later, the police forcibly broke her windows, took her away, and sent her to the Jinan Female Labor Camp. After she got out of it, (She either escaped or was released.) Ms. Li was forced to stay away from home to avoid further persecution.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
In February 2000, Chen Fengjun went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop persecuting Falun Gong. The staff of the Longkou City Liaison Office in Beijing arrested and beat Mr. Chen. Mr. Chen was escorted back to his hometown, and detained and tortured for fifteen days by the Xiadingjia Town Government. Mr. Chen was forced to leave home in September 2000 to avoid more persecution.

A Brief Report of the Incident:
In July 2001, the Cuijiayu Town Government tried to force local Falun Gong practitioners to sign their names or put their fingerprints on a statement of renouncing Falun Gong. Liu Zhengxing refused to be fingerprinted. Mr. Liu was beaten with wooden sticks and rubber batons. Then the staff poured boiling water on his body, which left bruises, scars and burns all over him. To avoid any further torture, Mr. Liu left home. Learning about his departure, the police detained his wife.
