A Brief Report of the Incident:
Since August 1999, because Mr. Lin Chengtao is a Falun Gong practitioner, he and his family have gone through much persecution by the Basic Science Institute in Beijing. He had to wander about homeless with his wife and his one-year-old daughter. On December 18, 2000, Mr. Lin was arrested and taken away by three policemen while he was talking with a friend on the street. Mr. Lin’s family was not notified about his arrest at that time.
After his release in September 2001, Mr. Lin was arrested again by the Beijing Police Station, and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in the Tuanhe Labor Camp. Since Mr. Lin refused to renounce Falun Gong, he was forced to squat throughout the night. In the daytime he was forced to attend anti-Falun Gong brainwashing class. One day, he was taken to a room and shocked several times with a 30,000 Volt electric baton. Finally, Mr. Lin became mentally disordered due to the torture.
Mr. Lin’s wife, Ms. Zhang Xiaojie, has been detained in the Beijing Women’s Labor Camp since 2000 because she practices Falun Gong. Their two-year-old daughter is living without parents. We request an urgent action from the United Nations to save Mr. Lin’s life. |
