Description:

On January 19, 2002, Mr. Zhang Wenfu was arrested because he practices Falun Gong. He was arbitrarily detained at Pulandian Detention Center for 50 days. On March 8, 2002, without any legal procedure, Mr. Zhang was transferred to the No. 5 Division of Dalian Labor Camp and was put under strict supervision for over 40 days. He was not allowed to wash his face or brush his teeth, and forced to do heavy labor for long periods of time each day.

On April 18, 2002, he was transferred to the No. 8 Division of Dalian Labor Camp. On the 10^th day after his transfer, Mr. Zhang started to hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment. In response, three team leaders, Li Xuezhong, Li Shaofu and Peng Dahua, and inmate Chi Diandong started to torture Mr. Zhang. Li Xuezhong sealed Mr. Zhang’s mouth and eyes with tape. Mr. Zhang's two hands were handcuffed while Peng Dahua beat his head with a rubber baton, kicked his face and stomped on his head. They stripped off Mr. Zhang's clothes, dragged him to the 3^rd floor, handcuffed him to a bed and beat him with a wooden board. They tortured him for half an hour. Then Chi Diandong and others started to force-feed Zhang Wenfu with liquor[1] .  In order to transform[2] him, they used chopsticks to poke inside his mouth, causing Mr. Zhang's mouth to bleed profusely. Mr. Zhang was then locked into a solitary compartment, handcuffed and forced to lie on a wooden board for an entire day.
