Ms. Yue Changzhi, female, 64, resident of Beijing, is an artist and a retired electrical engineer of the Second Research Center of the Spaceflight Department. Since July 1999, because she practices Falun Gong she has been detained seven times and forced into brainwashing twice. She was often arrested and detained during holidays. These detentions lasted from several days to several weeks. Not only was she forced to pay all the fees related to room and board during the detention periods, but she also had to pay for her surveillance. Her former work unit often held meetings to criticize and denounce her, in attempt to pressure her to give up Falun Gong. Her retirement pension was reduced from 1,300 Yuan to 200 Yuan.

Since October 2000 she was forced to leave home to escape further persecution. It is known that she has become very thin and her hair has turned white. In 2003, just before the early September, she was once again arrested, and since then has been detained at a detention center in Haidian District, Beijing.
