Mr. Xing Jiaqiu, male, 28 years old, from Zhangjiagou Village, Gangtun Town, Lianshan District, Huludao City, Liaoning Province.

On October 16, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. He was sent back to Huludao City and detained for one month. The police beat him severely during his detention.

In April 2000, Mr. Xing, his wife, Ms. Zhang Xiuying, and their five-month-old son went to Beijing to appeal again. They were sent back to a local detention center. Mr. Xing was detained for another month and brutally beaten with a nail-spiked club. His back, arms and buttocks were all black and blue.

In May 2000, several policemen from the Gangtun Town Police Station ransacked his home, kidnapped him and escorted him to the police station. The chief policeman kicked him, slapped his face, and beat him heavily with an iron chair. After being forced to do heavy labor for 20 days, Mr. Xing was sent to a brainwashing class, where his wife, Ms. Zhang, his father-in-law, Mr. Zhang Enxing, and brother-in-law Mr. Zhang Deben were all being detained. Mr. Xing was forced to run for more than 10 hours every day and not allowed to sleep at night. He was also beaten and kicked, and left exposed under the baking sun. One evening, when Mr. Xing was forced to stand still, a policeman kicked him in his ribs so suddenly and heavily that he fell to the ground and couldn't breath for awhile. They also forced him to watch his wife being slapped in the face. His wife's father and brother were also severely beaten. One day, a policeman kicked Mr. Xing in the genitals. He was not able to stand up for a long time. On another day, a policeman beat him on his back with a nail-spiked club, and then dragged him to his wife. The police beat Mr. Xing inhumanly with a rubber stick in front of his wife. He was detained and tortured like this for over 40 days. On June 4, 2001, several policemen from Gangtun Town Police Station tried to kidnap Mr. Xing from his home. He managed to escape and was forced to stay away from his home in order to avoid further persecution.

On May 28, 2002, he was arrested again and sentenced to 6 years in jail. He is currently detained in the Dabei Jail, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.
