Hu, Zhiqiang is a 31 years old Falun Gong practitioner.  He was born at  Jinlin province, PR China in December, 1971.  He finished three-year college in NanJing, Jiangsu Province. He started working at Dandong Air Force after graduated, and began practicing Falun Gong in the end of 1998.

After 4-25 incident in 1999, the PLA began banning military personnel practicing Falun Gong. Since he firmly rejected the notion of giving up Falun Gong practice and there was no reason to indict him for any criminal activities, the Air Force decided to escort him back to his home province where he received a “general discharge” to take on civilian jobs in 2000.

Later on, since the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners became more vicious. In October 2000, Hu Zhiqiang went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for the basic rights of Falun Gong practitioners. He was detained in Dandong, Liao-Ning province for the peaceful appeal and was sent to labor camp in Dandong, Liao-Ning province for three years term.

After constant brainwash and tremendous pressure in labor camp, Hu Zhiqiang was forced to sign a statement of giving up Falun Gong practice. Then he was released from the labor camp in April 2001. In January 2002, the policemen found him sending out a Solemn Declaration to declare that his signed statement in the labor camp is under pressure and is completely invalid. Hu Zhiqiang was then detained on January 14, 2002 and sent to labor camp in Dandong, Liaoning Province for 3 years term.

In the labor camp, everyday he is force to do about 12 hours hard labor work (such as building road and other construction work). He is not allowed to make any phone calls to outside. He is still in the labor camp now.
