Sixty-Three Year Old Woman Detained in Labor Camp

Gai Suzhi, female, 63, a retired employee of the No. 2 Petrochemical Factory , Fushun City, Liaoning Province

Description:

 

In December 2000, Ms. Gai Suzhi went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong and was arrested. She was detained for more than two months. After that, Ms. Gai was arrested twice again and until now has been detained in the Wujiabao Labor Camp for more than one year. By law, the labor camp is not allowed to detain anyone who is older than 60. To protest her illegal detention, Ms. Gai has gone on a hunger strike several times at the camp, and she has become extremely sick. She was cursed, beaten and tortured very often and her weight is only about 35kg now. Still, Ms. Gai is being tortured and detained there.
