Ms. Zhou Yurong, female, 39, medical doctor of Regiment 45, Division 3 of the army construction corps stationed in Xinjiang Province. On June of 2000 and December of 2001, Ms. Zhou went to Beijing to appeal to the Central government for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. On March 15, 2002, the Tacheng City Police arrested her.
She had been kept in the detention center of the Tacheng City Police Department. As Ms. Zhou went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention, the police had been torturing her by force-feeding ever since she was detained. After nearly 9 months of torture, Ms. Zhou’s weight dropped from 68 to 30 kilograms, and she lost bowel and bladder control. All her teeth were lost as a result of the abusively inhumane treatment during force-feeding. On December 2, 2002, the police forced Ms. Zhou to appear in court for her show trial even though she was very weak and on the verge of death. On December 4, 2002, right after she was sentenced to 3 years in prison, Ms. Zhou died.type=Case, Death; type=Case, Women; location=Xinjiang, Tacheng; |
