Several Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the Inner-Mongolian Autonomous Region for practicing Falun Gong. Most are either serving long-term sentences or have died from torture.

A few days before the Chinese New Year in 2001, Ms. Geng Xiulan was arrested for distributing materials revealing the persecution of Falun Gong. Chief Li Cai and other police  from the Guhongshan District police station in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region tortured Ms. Geng by wrapping wire around her index and ring fingers and then shocking her by using an electric baton. As a result, her cardiovascular system was damaged and she has constant seizures. Nevertheless, the police handcuffed her to heating pipes and forced her to remain in a squatting position, while attempting to extort information about other practitioners from her. Under the physical and psychological torture, Ms. Geng was forced into providing names of other practitioners who she thought would be merely questioned by the police. Police continued to hold her in detention and arrested several other practitioners and searched their homes. Some of those practitioners arrested or tortured to death as follow:

Ms. Zhao Yanxia was 56-year-old woman and lived on Huohua Road. She was detained in the Hongshan District Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest her detention and was force-fed by police. She died on April 16th, 2002 as a result of injuries sustained during the force-feeding.

Ms. Zheng Lanfeng, 35-years old was also force-fed and died as a result of injuries.

Ms. Hao Ping was abducted from her home and her house was ransacked by police. Police stole 500 Yuan from her personal savings. They forced her to leave her thirteen-year-old child and two elderly people home alone. (She had voluntarily cared for these people for seven years. One of these people was mentally disabled; the other was in poor physical health.) Without proper care, the two elderly members of her household took ill and died. She was sentenced to seven years in the Huhehaote Prison in Inner Mongolia. Hao Ping's husband was also arrested for practicing Falun Gong and sentenced to five years in prison and is now held at the Chifeng City's No.4 Prison.

Ms. Shang Shuqin was also arrested for practicing Falun Gong. She was sentenced to seven years in the Huhehaote Prison.
