Mr. Wang Jiguo, male, a teacher at the Mudanjiang Normal Institute, Heilongjiang Province, went to Beijing in March 2000 to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He was arrested, sent back to Mudanjiang City, and sentenced to three years of forced labor and detained in Sidao Labor Camp in Mudanjiang City. In August 2000 Mr. Wang was tortured nearly to death, and was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, liver ascites, and comprehensive hepatorenal syndrome. Mr. Wang was then hospitalized. In December 2000 officials from Mudanjiang Normal Institute sent him back to the labor camp, ignoring the fact that Mr. Wang still had blood in his urine, and was almost blind in both eyes. Later, Mr. Wang was incarcerated at Mudanjiang Prison, where he was tortured repeatedly until he was again on the brink of death. Medical treatment failed to revive him and he passed away in September 2003.

Mr. Wang 's wife is also a Falun Gong practitioner. She is currently being detained at a labor camp.
