Guan Ge Tortured to Death at Shibalihe Labor Camp
Print  E-mail

In September 2001, Ms. Guan Ge, female, 30, resident of Xinxiang City, Henan Province, was arrested and sentenced to three years of detention at the Shibalihe Female Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. The police assigned three to four people to monitor each Falun Gong practitioner around the clock, and often beat them late at night.

In order to force Ms. Guan to give up her belief, policeman Jia Meili ordered drug addicts Yan Ping and Fu Jinyu to torture Ms. Guan. They tied her up and then shocked her with electric batons. Later, they then put her through a torture known as "strapped clothes. " To enhance the suffering, the torturer forces the victim to wear headphones broadcasting defamatory programs about Falun Gong. With their mouths taped shut, they are then hung up on the window frame. The police usually put the practitioners who refuse to renounce Falun Gong through such torture for at least one day and one night. This torture causes the bones in their shoulders, elbows, wrists or even their spine to break. Many victims fainted due to the unbearable pain. Eventually, Ms. Guan died from the torture.

Upon seeing her body, her family members saw the bruises on her body and the big bump on her head from the severe beatings. They asked the unit responsible to issue a "death notice" and "detailed report on her death" through proper procedures, but the police refused their request. Instead, they hastily cremated Ms. Guan's body without going through the proper procedures.

A director named Liu from the Henan Province Labor Education Bureau came to the scene after receiving a death report about Falun Gong practitioners. However, not only did he not seek to find out who was responsible for the murders, he also praised the murderers for their "good performance in torturing Falun Gong." He even approved the early release of the two drug addicts, Yan Ping and Fu Jinyu, two months ahead of their scheduled terms. On the other hand, Ms. Guan's family members were abducted and taken to Zhengzhou City by the "610 Office" in Xinxiang City, where public security personnel monitored them. At the same time, the police tried all means to cover up the facts about Ms. Guan's death.
