Torture Death of Ms. Lu Guirong from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province
Print  E-mail

On June 28, 2000, Ms. Lu Guirong, a farmer of Donggui Village, Baohe Township, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was traveling to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. A group of people led by police chief Zhai and police officer Chen Fuguo, from Baohe Township Police Station, intercepted her at the railway station in Xi'an City, Shanxi Province. They took her back to the Baohe Township Police Station and detained her there for six days. It rained heavily for days, and rainwater leaked all over the detention room. Ms. Lu did not sleep for several days. The police officers gave her only very little to eat and a bit of tap water every day. On the fifth day, it became extremely hot after the rain stopped. At noon, police officer Chen Fuguo forced her to wash several cars in the burning sun. On the sixth day, Ms. Lu was transferred to Jiuru Village Detention Center in Chengdu City, where she lost consciousness that night. Police later instructed Ms. Lu's family to come and take her home. On July 7, the day after she returned home, Ms. Lu passed away. The exact circumstances of the persecution Ms. Lu endured are still under investigation. After Ms. Lu died, two years' worth of her family's 3,500-Yuan annual bonus was confiscated.
