In December 2001, Mr. Zhong Hongxi, 48, resident of Gebu Village, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was illegally sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp because he insisted on practicing Falun Gong. On December 26, Mr. Zhong was sent to Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp in Fushun City, where he was subjected to extreme torment. Fourteen months later, he was on the brink of death. To shirk responsibility, police at the labor camp released him on March 26, 2003. Mr. Zhong’s home was ransacked, and police confiscated everything from his convenience store. They took all the money, even pocket change. Mr. Zhong’s family had no means to pay for medical treatment. On April 12, 2003, Mr. Zhong passed away. His elderly parents, who are over eighty years old, and his youngest son, who is only twelve, have no one to care for them.
