Description:

Ms. Liu Chunshu was imprisoned in Jiangbei Female Jail of Chongqing City Forced Labor Camp because she practiced Falun Gong. In the jail, she was frequently beaten and abused. Consequently, Ms. Liu’s health rapidly deteriorated and she was sent outside the labor camp for medical treatment. In the early morning of January 3, 2002, police from Banan District Police Station arrested Ms. Liu at Xiaoquan Hotel. In the police station, Ms. Liu suffered severe physical and mental torture. She was not allowed to wear a coat despite near-freezing temperatures nor was she allowed to eat. With rapidly failing health, she was transferred to a local hospital. Ms. Liu was admitted to the hospital’s emergency room on the night of January 8 and kept under strict police surveillance. On January 9, Ms. Liu passed away.
