A brief report of the incident:
On the night of August 19, 2001, Wu Lianjie was arrested by police of Gongzhuling City Police Department while distributing materials about Falun Gong. Wu Lianjie died in police custody at the Police Department of Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province. An eyewitness saw a body falling headfirst from the fifth floor early in the morning of August 20, 2001. It was alleged that the police beat Wu Lianjie to death or to the point of death and then threw her down from the fifth floor so as to make it look like a case of suicide.
