A brief report of the incident:
On April 4, 2000, the Datong Police took Wu Qingbin to the Huainan Second Detention Center because he practiced Falun Gong in public. During his four-month stay in Huainan Second Detention Center, Guard Wu instigated the inmates to beat Wu Qingbin. One time, the inmates of the cell tortured Wu Qingbin by throwing him up into the air and letting him fall heavily down on the floor. Wu Qingbin's physical health became extremely bad because of such tortures in the detention center.
In the middle of August 2000, Wu Qingbin was sentenced to a year and a half in Huainan Labor Camp. After he was sent to the Huainan Labor Camp, in August 2000, a medical examination showed that Wu Qingbin had pulmonary edema.
In July 2001, Wu Qingbin went on a hunger strike for over ten days in protest of the persecution. As a result, his health condition deteriorated to the point that the labor camp had to release him on bail for medical treatment.
On July 19, 2001, people from the Huainan Political and Law Committee arrested Wu Qingbin again and sent him to the Huainan Labor Camp. On July 20, 2001, Wu Qingbin died in Huainan Labor Camp.
