A brief report of the incident:

In December 2000, Gao Lijun and her husband Wang Jianrong went to Beijing to appeal for their right to practice Falun Gong. They were arrested and jailed in the Taiyuan Detention Center.  On January 22, 2001, the detention center asked Gao Lijun’s family to pick them up at the hospital. When Gao Lijun's family saw them, Gao was already on the verge of death and had lost control of her bowels and bladder. Since Gao's life was in danger, the police allowed her family to take her home where she died three days later on January 25, 2001.
