Mr. Tang Cibao Died from Effects of Persecution in Hunan Province

Mr. Tang Cibao was arrested on February 2, 2007, and was sent to Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City, Hunan Province to serve a two-year term. Mr. Tang lost 70 pounds due to the brutal mistreatment he suffered at the Camp. He had no energy to talk, and developed serious liver disease (hydrocephaly). The Camp Administration ordered his family to pick him up in October 2007, and he died in May 2008.

Mr. Tang Cibao, 55, was a teacher employed by the 7319 (Military) Factory Family School. He lived in Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province.

In May 2006, agents of the Yongzhou City Domestic Security Division ransacked Mr. Tang Cibao’s home, taking his computer, printer, TV set, and cash. He was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested.
In January 2007, someone reported that Mr. Tang had returned to his home in the 7319 Factory Family Housing Unit. Local police officer Feng Defu arrested him on February 2, 2007, and took him to Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term. Mr. Tang lost 70 pounds due to the brutal mistreatment he suffered at the Camp. He had no energy to talk, and developed serious liver disease (hydrocephaly). The Camp Administration ordered his family to pick him up in October 2007. He could not recover from the liver disease, and he died on May 13, 2008.
