Mr. Feng Guofu was sentenced to one and a half years in forced labor camp and his sister, two lawyers, and seven fellow Falun Gong practitioners who were going to visit him in the detention center were arrested in the hotel rooms.
Feng Guofu, male, about 40 years old, is a resident of Fagou Village, Lingbei Town, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. At around 8:00 pm on November 6, 2007, police from Mohudian Police Station arrested him because he practices Falun Gong. Later, he was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and detained in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province.
In December, 2008, Mr. Feng started a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. He was brutally force-fed while chained onto an iron chair. After a month on hunger strike, he was very weak and was on the verge of death.
After hearing the news, Mr. Feng’s family decided to visit him. At the same time, they hired two lawyers for his case. On the evening of February 24, 2008, his sister, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, the two lawyers and seven Falun Gong practitioners arrived in Shenyang City and planned to visit Mr. Feng the next day. However, at dawn on February 25, 2008, police broke into their hotel rooms and arrested all of them. On the same day, Mr. Feng’s sister and the seven Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the Lingyuan City Detention Center. All of them were detained for 15 days.
