Ms. Lin with daughter

...Only 12 days later his fifth cervical vertebra was broken and he died on August 5, 2002 at the age of 34. No family members were allowed to see him before he died, so we still don’t know if his organs had been harvested...

My name is Lin Qian. I am from Guangdong Province. I used to work at the Dental Center of the Guangdong Provincial Hospital. My husband, Rao Zhuoyuan was born in October 1968. He worked for the Guangzhou City Epidemic Prevention Station in the Food Division, where he helped monitor food safety. Both of us are Falun Gong practitioners. During the last six years of brutal persecution and torture of Falun Gong practitioners, agents from the wicked Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tortured my husband to death, and I have endured suffering from long-term physical torture and mental torment.

On the morning of July 20, 1999, my husband Zhuoyuan went to the Guanzhou City Municipal Building and the administration building of Guangdong Province to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. From then on, leaders from his workplace, including the director of Human Resources, Gan Qigao, the officer of the CCP Committee, Zhang Qin (Office phone number: +86-1350-002-7473; Home phone number: +86-20-3881-0889), the Secretary of the Department of Food, Li Yinkuan, repeatedly pressured him to hand in his Falun Gong books and give up his belief. They threatened that he would lose his job otherwise.

On September 7, 1999, Zhuoyuan and another practitioner Zhou Mintong went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. At the hotel a local policeman questioned them to see if they practice Falun Gong. As soon as they admitted it, several policemen arrested them and detained them at the Gongdong Province sub-office in Beijing. Two days later they were sent back to Gongdong. On the evening of September 16, officer Lin from the Xingang W. Rd. Local Police Station in Haizhu District (address: #142, Building #5, Xingang W. Rd, Guangzhou) came to our home and lied to us, saying that agents at the local police station wanted us to go there to "have a talk." Zhuoyuan was arrested under force and taken to the First Detention Center of Haizhu District. He was unlawfully detained for 15 days. Then he and practitioner Zhou Mintong were detained at the Gongdong Province Light Industry College Hotel (address: #152 Xingang W. Rd., Haizhou District). People involved in the persecution were: police from the Haizhou District 610 Office, the director of Human Resources, Gan Qigao, and the Secretary of the Department of Food, Li Yinkuan from the Guangzhou City Epidemic Prevention Station.

On July 3, 2000, Zhuoyuan was arrested while at work by You Li, a member of Gongzhou 610 Office, the director of Security Department, Gongzhou City Hygiene Bureau (address: #182 Dongfeng W. Rd., zipcode: 510174, phone number: +86-20-8108-1186), Gong Qigao and Li Yinkuan. He was locked up in the Jiangcun Mental Hospital (located at Sheyaoling, Dasonggang, Baiyuan District, Gongzhou City) where he was tortured for 54 days. He endured all kinds of insults and humiliation, as well as other mental torment. He was not allowed to sleep, and was forced to hear very loud radio programs that slandered Falun Gong 24 hours a day. No one notified my family of his whereabouts during those 54 days. After this incident, Zhuoyuan was not as energetic as before and became very upset. He was also demoted from his job as a highly qualified food inspector to a bottle washer in the supply room. His salary was also withheld, and he was paid only 700 yuan RMB monthly. The amount was later lowered to 380 yuan.

On September 4, 2001, Zhuoyuan was again unexpectedly arrested at work. You Li, Gan Qigao, and Li Yinkuan locked him up in the notorious Guangzhou Anti-Falun Gong Brain-washing Class (56 Xizhou N. Rd, Cuotou, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City) where he was forced to undergo brainwashing.

Due to frequent insults from 610 Office agents, my mother suffered a mental illness. I went to talk to You Li, asking them to let Zhuoyuan go free. With my strong request, Zhuoyuan was released on September 30, 2001, but he had to give up his job. After he came home, the 610 Office people often had someone monitoring our residence. To avoid further persecution, Zhuoyuan left home and lived a homeless and destitute life. Our home phone was tapped and he did not dare call us. I did not know of his whereabouts.

On October 26, 2001, Zhuoyuan was kidnapped by a 610 Office policeman in Haizhu District. This time, he was held in the First Detention Center in the Haizhu District. After he held a hunger strike to protest the unlawful detention, he was transferred to the Huadu First Forced Labor Camp in Guangzhou City. Zhuoyuan was on a hunger strike the whole time. His weight dropped from 68 kilograms (approximately 152 lbs) to 35 kilograms (approximately 82 lbs). He was extremely weak and looked like a skeleton. People at the labor camp clinic could not even find a vein to give him an injection. In November 2001, Zhuoyuan was transferred to the Zhijing Legal System Hospital in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. He stayed there for two days. The hospital officials forced us to sign the guarantee statement. Then he was released "on bail for medical treatment." I carried him home as he was unable to walk. Our family members could not even recognize him. Our little daughter was scared at the sight of him and hid behind others' backs. She could not believe that the person right in front of her was the father that she had been so close to before.

On January 19, 2002, as Zhuoyuan was recovering at home, the 610 Office from the Haizhu District sent agents to the Dental Center of the Guangdong Hospital where I was working. I was wearing my doctor's white gown and cap. They took me against my will and detained me for 24 hours at the Changgang Street Police Station in the Haizhu District, located in Haifu Huayuan, Jiangyan Rd., Guangzhou. People involved in this were: police of the Haizhou District 610 Office, officials of the Dental Center of the Guangdong Hospital including the director of Human Resources, Li Qi, the director of the Center, Zhang Jincai, Ou Rao, and Xue Guochu.

At the police station I was locked up to a chair. More than ten police interrogated me, including Wen Chunlan from the Haizhu District Police Station (phone number: +86-1360-284-6718, 1371-054-2408, +86-20-3411-7485), Yu Qiang (phone number: +86-1380-254-7842, 1380-277-7302, +86-20-8439-5156, +86-20-8444-3110), He Mincong, (phone number: +86-20-8851-1108), Huang Mian, Li Yaowen, the police from the Haizhu District 610 Office.

On January 20, 2002, after being detained for 24 hours, I was transferred to the Haizhu District "Legal System School," located on the 9th floor of "Mrs. He Guirong's Welfare Center" at 1690 - 1694 S. Guangzhou Ave., where I was subjected to brainwashing. The center forced practitioners to watch the "Tiananmen Self-immolation," "Fu Yubin killed his family members," and other deceitful videos that slandered Falun Gong. We were forced to read anti-Falun Gong materials as well. They also threatened that if I still refused to be "reformed" they would put me in a labor camp. They intended to destroy me spiritually, trying to force me to give up my belief in Falun Gong. They had someone watch me 24 hours a day. They also forbade me from leaving the room. Afterwards they transferred me to a small cell. I could only see others during meal time.

My husband was forbidden to visit me during my detention in the brainwashing center. My mother-in-law tried to see me once, but police officer Li Qing stopped her. My family endured a great deal during my detention. My brothers traveled thousands of miles to the brainwashing center to see me. My mother was sick at home, but nobody took care of her then. My daughter could not see me either. My nieces and nephews went to my hospital employers to request my release, fearing that I might be laid off. The brainwashing center personnel even demanded that my family members pay them a daily "fee" of 100 yuan.

On June 14, 2002, police from the Guangzhou City 610 Office, the Tianhe District 610 Office, Yu Qiang from the Haizhu District 610 Office, and Li Weicheng from the Guangzhou First Labor Camp broke into our home and took Zhuoyuan away once again. Only 12 days later his fifth cervical vertebra was broken and he died on August 5, 2002 at the age of 34. No family members were allowed to see him before he died, so we still don’t know if his organs had been harvested. On August 13, 2002, when I saw the body I was not able to recognize him and I couldn’t say that it was his body.

To avoid further persecution of my family, I escaped to Thailand in December 2005 with my daughter.
