On May 28, 2005, Mr. Wang was sent to hospital for treatment again. A medical checkup showed that the blood vessels, bones, and muscles in his right leg had become necrotic. He had gangrene. In July 2003, Mr. Wang was sentenced to ten years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. He was jailed in the Baoding Prison (AKA Hebei First Prison).
Gao Yin, Head of the Baoding Prison of Hebei Province, ordered policemen and inmates to abuse and torture him using various devices.
On May 18, 2005, because Mr. Wang refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, he was tired on a bed for ten days. All four limbs were cuffed to the bed using metal restraints, and his waist was secured by a big metal band. For those ten days, he was only given a little water.
On May 27, 2005, at around 4 a.m., guard Fan Jianli kicked his legs seven or eight times. Then Fan asked him to walk into the monitoring cell. He could not stand due to the pain in his legs so he had to crawl into the monitoring cell. Even so Fan continued to hit him and stomp on him. That night, Mr. Wang was sent to hospital for emergency treatment. After midnight he was taken back to the prison and locked up on a bed again.

If his leg was not amputated immediately, the toxins would attack his heart and his life would be in danger. On May 30, his right leg was amputated. Gao Yin refused to inform his family about the situation and forced him to submit to the amputation.
On August 23, 2006, one year and three months after the tragedy, Mr. Wang managed to notify his family of the bad news.
On May 24, 2007, and June 7, 2007, Mr. Wang's wife, and family members went to the prison twice. However the authorities would not allow them to visit Mr. Wang, and told them his amputation was only a rumor.
In early June 2007, Mr. Wang was transferred from the Baoding Prison to the Jidong Prison in Tangshan City. It was then two years since he had been disabled due to the amputation. On June 28, 2007, his wife finally found out the truth when she read a letter he wrote to her. On the morning of August 6, his wife and son finally saw him. Seeing his horrible situation, his wife silently cried.
Mr. Wang attempted to sue the Baoding City Prison (Hebei Province) for torture and the consequent amputation of his leg. However, the prison still refuses to release him.
