Inhuman Torture in China: the Tip of the Iceberg

Full report PDF version is at here.

We would like to bring the following cases of Falun Gong practitioners in China to your attention. Due to the information blockade, the torture these practitioners have suffered represents just the tip of the iceberg.

They are typical of what thousands have experienced, what hundreds of thousands face, and what millions fear if they dare to place their own belief before the Chinese Communist Party.

  1. The case of Ms Zhang Yulan, whose two family members were tortured to death for practicing Falun Gong. The police arrested her on November 28, 2007, and her family does not know her whereabouts.

  2. The case of Ms. Zhao Zhongling, who was tortured to death less than a month and a half after her arrest. The Jinniu District Procuratorate sentenced her to three years of forced labor while she was in bed, on the verge of death. After her death, the local authorities forced her family to sign an acknowledgment of her guilt.

  3. The case of Mr. Liu Hongwei and Ms. Mu Ping, who have suffered so much from persecution; they were both arrested for their belief in Falun Gong and their children were left without care.

  4. The case of Ms. Wei Fengju, who was jailed for speaking the truth. She had abdominal pain during her detention; after her release, she could not recover and died on July 12, 2007. Before her death, she told others, "I won't be able to recover, because they injected some unknown drug into me."

  5. The case of Mr. Li Hongfu, who was repeatedly jailed and tortured for telling people the truth about Falun Gong. The torture included the tiger bench, electric shocks, nailing bamboo shoots under his fingernails and mercilessly daily beatings by convicted drug addicts. The brutality caused Mr. Li's spleen to rupture and his chest to collapse. He never recovered and died on December 8, 2006, at the age of 31.
