"Falun Dafa is Good"

Ms. Zhu Xiyu is a Falun Gong Practitioner from Yanji City. She has been imprisoned and persecuted many times.

She was detained in the Fourth Team of Heizuizi Forced labor camp in Changchun before the end of 2003. In the labor camp, she was often beaten and yelled at. At the command of the guards, some of the other detainees also beat her. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and her illegal detention. The camp doctors force-fed her and she often ended up with dark bruises on her face. Sometimes when she returned from the labor camp clinic, her face was covered with blood and she had a tube inserted into her nose. The guards sent her to the Public Security Bureau Hospital for further “treatment.”

Three months later the guards from the Fourth Team and two other people in red clothes were seen yelling at an elderly, hunchbacked woman, "Go forward, go back," continuously teasing and torturing her. A person in red was pushing and shoving her while the head guard was yelling. That person was Ms. Zhu, although she looked much older and had had a mental breakdown.

One day in January 2003, the guard from the Fourth Team led two others, dragging Ms. Zhu on the ground with a rope tied to each of her ankles. Her back and head were on the ground. Her clothes were tattered and open. They dragged her down the stairs, leaving a long trail of blood. She was eventually released from the labor camp.

On September 1, 2003, the Henan Police Station in Yanji City arrested Ms. Zhu for her belief in Falun Gong. They tortured her in attempts to extort a so-called “confession.” On September 2, 2003 she was transferred to the Yanji Public Security building.

She was hung and suspended from a crossbeam with only her hands to support her weight. When she was unable to bear the pain, she fainted. The policemen beat her head with their fists, grasped her hair, slammed her head against a wall, and kicked her. After 13 hours of torture, her face was so severely beaten that it was covered with blood, she was beyond recognition, her whole body was swollen, and she was unable to walk. On September 19, 2003, after hunger striking for 17 days, the guards from the Yanji National Security building took Ms. Zhu to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. They intended to have her serve three years of hard labor, but, because of her physical condition, the camp refused to accept her. The perpetrators let her go home.

On the morning of November 4, 2003, the police from the Yanji City National Security building broke into Ms. Zhu's home and took her to the Heizuizi Labor Camp to serve two years of forced labor. While in the camp, Ms. Zhu was brutally tortured. She refused to give in or to do hard labor, and she went on a hunger strike. She was severely beaten, shocked with electric batons, imprisoned in isolation, and tied down to a "dead man's bed." The policemen force-fed her so severely that her nose bled, and afterwards they threw her out into the snow. The police kicked her face and broke her front teeth. On December 3, 2004, after 25 days on a hunger strike, she was finally released.

On April 13, 2005, the Yanji City Public Security Bureau arrested Ms. Zhu again. She went on a hunger strike and was released a few days later. In late April 2005, Ms. Zhu went to Jindalai Square to hold a banner stating "Falun Dafa is Good" and the police arrested her again. She went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution and was released a few days later.

In mid-May 2005, instigated by the Yanji City 610 Office, Ms. Zhu was arrested at her place of work at the Northwestern Asian Grand Hotel and was taken to a mental hospital. She went on a hunger strike again and refused to cooperate with the persecution. She also resisted being injected with drugs. The perpetrators unsuccessfully tried every means possible to coerce Ms. Zhu, but in the end she was released again.

In early July 2005, Yanji City Public Security arrested Ms. Zhu again. She was released several days later after she held a hunger strike.
