Wei Haiqing (pseudonym for her protection) is a 52-year-old woman who has very poor eyesight due to congenital denaturation of retinal pigment. Because of her determination to practice Falun Dafa and her legal appeal for Falun Dafa, since September 25, 1999, she has been put in detention, detained three times, and sentenced to a labor camp. The police have illegally without a warrant, ransacked her house and taken Falun Dafa books, a VCR and a cassette player. The police have repeatedly threatened her and extorted 5,000 yuan from them (about 12 months' salary of an average worker in China). The security department threatened to force her third daughter to have an abortion if she did not stop the practice of Falun Dafa. Failing to attain their goal, they sent her daughter to a detention center. The detention center refused her due to her pregnancy. |
