In 2002, police arrested Mr. Xu Tianbao because he is a Falun Dafa practitioner. They handcuffed him to a bench in an unbearably painful position. At the same time they broadcasted from two loudspeakers brainwashing tapes defaming Falun Gong directly into both of his ears. It hurt him so much that Tianbao's ears bled and became inflamed, and his hearing was impaired.

Later, he was sent to Shenzhen City's No.2 Forced Labor Camp, where both of Tianbao's ears oozed pus. With his persistent and strong request, personnel from the labor camp superficially eased some inflammation for him, but never gave him actual medical treatment. His left ear thus became totally deaf. At present, he suffers from a pus-oozing and infected ear, and has to endure severe headaches and dizziness. However, the authorities in Shenzhen City's No.2 Forced Labor Camp still have not provided him with actual medical treatment.
