Ms. Mu Yongxia, in her 60s, a resident in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province

Ms. Mu Yongxia had suffered from paralysis (she still has her disability certificate) and could not take care of herself before she started to practice Falun Gong.  After practicing Falun Gong, her health improved greatly.  

In May 2001, because she kept practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Mu was arrested by officers from the Honggang Police Station on her way to visit relatives, and was subsequently transferred to the Ranghulu Police Branch Office. Later, she was sent to the Daqing Detention Center for one month and transferred to the Saertu Detention Center afterwards. Nineteen days later, police from the Ranghulu Police Station sent her to a psychiatric hospital (Daqing No. 3 Hospital) where she suffered tremendously both physically and mentally.

They tied her to bed and injected her with nerve-damaging drugs. They also force-fed her and injected her with drugs that cause dizziness and blurry vision. Due to the torture, she could not straighten her back, had a high fever, trembled and lost control of her body. When she fell down and could not stand up to walk after using the toilet, she had to crawl back to the ward. Twenty days later, she was tortured to the point that she had no eye response and was in a coma.

After her release, when she went back home she discovered that  her husband had already remarried and her sorrowful mother in her 80s had died.

On June 3, 2005, Ms. Mu went to apply for an ID for her son, so that he could work in their hometown. However, the police at the Ranghulu Branch Office refused the application because she would not write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong. On her way back, she stopped by a fellow practitioner Shi Fugui's home. At that time the police were ransacking Shi’s home. As soon as she stepped in the door, her bag was grabbed and several plain-clothes policemen dragged her to a police car hidden behind the building.

She was taken to the Ranghulu Police Branch Office. At about 1:00 a.m. the next morning, one female and five male members of the police came to take her to a detention center. Ms. Mu resisted strongly, so they dragged her to the ground, pulling her legs while her head dragged on the floor and then forcibly put her into a police car. After they arrived at the Daqing Detention Center, they locked Ms. Mu in an isolated cell and shackled her to a metal chair.

Since June 4, 2005 Ms. Mu constantly suffered palpitations and dizziness, and could not get up. On the morning of June 6th, although still weak, she got off the bed and sat in front of the cell door. Holding tightly to it with both hands, she shouted: "Falun Dafa is Good", "Release all Falun Gong Practitioners Immediately". Soon, the police in the monitoring room yelled abusive words over the loudspeaker and a female guard on-duty kicked Ms. Mu, then a dozen prisoners covered her up with a quilt and carried her outside. To silence her, they stuffed her mouth with a towel and the prison doctor inserted a tube into her nose making it difficult for her to breathe or vomit.

On the morning of June 7th, the police swore at Ms. Mu and hit her with some sandals. Ms. Mu, however, spoke out: "Falun Dafa is Good! Stop persecuting Dafa Disciples!" Then they moved the metal chair inside the cell and locked her to it. To cause hatred, the police then tortured three prisoners in front of Ms. Mu by "body-folding"[1] them, causing one of them to fall to the ground twice due to heart stroke; four were forced to stand still; fifteen were forced to sit in a small area from morning to 9:00 p.m. Ms. Mu told the police to stop the torture and could not help shedding tears, some of the prisoners cried as well.

On the morning of June 8th, Ms. Mu suddenly fainted after being on the metal chair for 10 hours. Only when she was on the verge of death did they released her.  After her release, Ms. Mu has had fever and cold sweats. She feels pain all over her body and has dizziness and nausea.
