Description:

On October 14 2000 around 7pm  plainclothes police from Xiaojia Village Police Station arrested Ms. Zhu Junxiu for distributing Falun Gong materials. The policemen ransacked her house and confiscated a computer and a printer, CD, fax machines, and some other personal property.

Ms. Zhu was first detained in the Xiaojia Village Police Station. She was interrogated for 8 hours during the night, then locked in a dark tiny cold cell for two days. On Oct. 16 2000, she was transferred to the Chongzhou City Detention Center. There, policemen Chen and Zhao Bing interrogated her. During the examination, they beat her about her face and temples, dragged by her hair, which caused to lose consciousness twice. Four days later, she was transferred to the Huaiyuan Police Station where she was detained in a small dark room around 2 square meters for forty days. The floor of the room was covered in urine and feces, there were no windows, and she was not allowed to wash or use the restroom. She was also forced to work and had been humiliated and received all kinds of bad treatment.

After forty days, the Chengdu City Police Station sentenced Ms. Zhu to one-year of forced labor at the Nanmusi Women’s Labor Camp. At the Nanmusi Labor Camp, Ms. Zhu was locked up for eight months. Everyday she was forced to stand in a certain posture for almost 20 hours. Guards in the labor camp also incited criminals to beat her. Because of the torture, Ms. Zhu’s legs became swollen, and she couldn’t wear her shoes anymore. In the labor camp, Ms. Zhu once refused to be brainwashed, and guard Zhang Xiaofang beat her face and mouth with an electric baton.
