January 2001, on the train from Beijing to Hunan Province

Perpetrators:

1.      The police from the "610 Office" in Anren County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province

2.      The staff from the Chengping Village local government, Anren County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province

Brief Description:

Ms. Li Xiaoying suffered many diseases, which disappeared upon practicing Falun Gong. In early January 2001, she and other Falun Gong practitioners went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. There, they were arrested. Later, the police from the "610 Office" in Anren County, along with the staff from the Chengping Village local government, escorted them back to their hometown by train.

On the way back to Hunan province by train, the police handcuffed Ms. Li with another practitioner, Ms. Li Yunhua. The two were tied together on the train, they had to move and sleep together. Ms. Li Yunhua recalls, "The last time I saw Ms. Li Xiaoying was we both sleeping.  However, when I woke up, I could not find Li Xiaoying. I did not know what happened to her. I asked many other people on the same train, but they would not tell me anything. I have not seen her since and do not know whether she is still alive."

Ms. Li has been missing since then, and none of her relatives or friends knows her whereabouts.

Steps taken to find Ms. Li Xiaoying

After Ms. Li disappeared, the local authorities threatened her family not to spread information about her disappearance. Her family tired to appeal to other organizations for help, but no one was willing to take her case since she is Falun Gong practitioner.

The Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group has submitted this report. For four years we have been continuously submitting reports on the Chinese government’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China.
