Brief Description:
In July 2000, Ms. Zhao Lixuan went to Beijing twice to appeal to the Chinese government for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. She was escorted back to Shenyang city and police tried to force her to write a statement that she would not go to Beijing any more. Ms. Zhao Lixuan refused, and as a result, the police sent her to the so-called “Legal Institution Class” in Longshan Labor Camp of Shenyang City, even though she had a little baby to breast-feed.
In August 2000, Ms. Zhao Lixuan requested to be released, but was rejected. She then started a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. She was force-fed many times in September 2000. Due to the torture Ms. Zhao Lixuan’s health quickly deteriorated and she became very weak. In the middle of September, she was released under the condition that her family would closely watch her. On October 4, 2000, Ms. Zhao Lixuan and her husband took their child to visit her mother. Then on October 19, she disappeared from her mother’s home while she was by herself in the home.
Steps taken to find Ms. Zhang Meimei:
Her mother and husband had people search for her, but they couldn’t find any information on her. Since she disappeared, her family tired to find her in many ways; however, no one knows how she disappeared or where she is.
