Dr. Jiang Xiaoying Suffered a Mental Breakdown
Print  E-mail

Dr. Jiang Xiaoying, female, in her 50s, is a resident of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. She was a doctor at Jiujiang Mental Hospital. In 2000, Dr. Jiang was detained in the Jiangxi Female Labor Camp, where she was severely tortured because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. Shortly after she was released, on June 10, 2002, she was arrested again. In the middle of October 2002, she was sentenced to 3 years of forced labor and sent to the Majialong Labor Camp. From the time she was arrested to the time she was sent to the forced labor camp, she was beaten so severely that she suffered memory loss. After these beatings, she often lost consciousness.

In the Majialong Labor Camp, Dr. Jiang suffered inhumane torture. The camp guard instigated criminals to insult her by stripping off her clothes and to stare at her naked body. They also wrote words denouncing Falun Gong on her face and buttocks. When she lost consciousness, the prisoners poured cold water on her, even when it was freezing outside. They pinched her all over her body leaving bruises & cuts everywhere. They scalded her hands with boiling water, and inserted needles into her fingertips leaving marks that still remain. These criminals often beat her, stepped, on her and slapped her face. They also injected her with unknown drugs while she was sleeping. Once the criminals pushed her into a corner and stuffed a shoe into her month. At the beginning of September 2004, five criminals pushed her into a room, and then four of them beat her up while one acted as a lookout outside the door.

When Dr. Jiang reported the torture to the camp guards, they ignored her. When she requested medical treatment, the camp guards usually did not allow it. In March 2004, when she became too weak to be able to take care of herself, she was sent to Ruichang City Hospital for a physical examination. She was diagnosed with a lung infection.

As a result of all of this maltreatment, Dr. Jiang suffered a mental breakdown. She is barely able to talk or take care of herself. The brutal torture has made her extremely weak and thin. She has a solid mass in her abdomen. She has even developed some abnormal behaviors such as drinking urine and eating the discarded peels of fruit.
