male, was born on May 9, 1971. He was a doctor in the Number 2 Hospital of the
Chongqing Iron & Steel (group) Company Ltd., Chongqing City.

Description:
In October 1999, Mr. He Haiou
was first detained for one month for being a Falun Gong practitioner. He was
forced to watch TV programs defaming Falun Gong day and night. After that, he
was sent back to work at the hospital for several months under strict
monitoring. Though he is a physician, he was given a job as a hospital security
guard. At the same time, he was forced to make a choice between giving up the
practice of Falun Gong and regaining his position as a doctor. After a couple
of months, when he did not give up the practice, the hospital fired him. The
local police and the National Security Bureau monitored all of his phone calls.
They have copies of all of the calls he received from his elder brother, Mr. He
Haiying, who lives in the U.S. In spite of having this record, the officer from
national security bureau still questioned that Mr. He was supported by
"anti-China forces in the U.S."
To avoid being arrested, Mr. He
could not live at home and had to keep moving from place to place. In October
2000, after leaving a relative¡¯s house with his wife, Mr. He was arrested
immediately. A few days later, a phone call came from the hospital where Mr. He
used to work, simply saying that he was in police custody. But there was no
mention of where he was being held.
Afterward, no one heard from or
saw Mr. He. Family members continuously called the local police station to find
out his whereabouts. The police station only said that they did not know
anything and were not able to tell them anything.
In July 2002, the local police
station called his wife and told her that Mr. He had been sentenced to 10 years
in the Chongqing Prison (Nan An Qu, P.O. Box 2306-7, Chongqing, 400061,
P.R. China, Tel: 011-86-6251-2534). His crimes: not giving up Falun Gong.
His wife received intense pressure and persecution, and was eventually driven
to divorce him.
During his imprisonment, Mr. He
has been subjected repeatedly brainwashing, sleep deprivation and torture for
the past 5 years. He also gone on a hunger strike several times to protest the
persecution. Recently, the authorities of the Chongqing Prison started another
round of intensive torture to force him to renounce Falun Gong, and again Mr.
He started a hunger strike to protest persecution. After he had been on a
hunger strike for more than 10 days, he was sent to a hospital to receive IV
