Ms. Li Yuling, 55 years old, lived at West Zuojiazhuang Lane, Xiangheyuan Area, Beijing City. Since 1999, she was illegally arrested, detained and had her home ransacked many times by police and “610 office” of Xiangheyuan Area. She was sent to a brainwashing center twice and sent to a mental hospital for further persecution in 2000. She was followed for many years, and police from the 610 Office often harassed her at home. Eventually Li Yuling had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
On June 25, 2003, she was arrested when she was handing out Falun Gong information materials and was taken to the Heping Hotel. The police tried to coerce her into revealing the sources of the material and names of other Falun Gong practitioners. Ms Li was beaten and tortured around the clock. She began a hunger strike to protest. She did not give the police any information. The policemen flew into a rage and tortured her relentlessly. Nine days after her arrest at 5:00 a.m. on July 4th she passed away. type=case, death;type=case, women;location=Beijing |
