Ms. Li Xianmin, female, 51 years old, used to work for the Shehong County Social Security Bureau. She was demoted from her Department Head position for practicing Falun Gong. On January 31, 2000, Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal and was held at Shehong County Detention Center for 90 days.
On June 30, 2000, Ms. Li went to Beijing a second time, and was put under house arrest for one month by her employer. They also withheld 10 months of her salary. On the evening of November 5, 2003, at approximately 8 p.m., police officer Zhou Yuan and a dozen other police officers stormed into her home, ransacked it, and confiscated her family's electronic equipment and other possessions. She had been sentenced to two years of forced labor but was on parole, and her home was ransacked three times. Her employer stopped paying her monthly salary and only paid her 400 Yuan for basic living costs.
On February 1, 2005, at approximately 11 a.m., Ms. Li from Shehong County, Sichuan Province went to attend her friends' and family's New Year's banquet held in the County Government (owned) Hotel. She was abducted by 610 Office members and detained at the county detention center. On April 7, 2005 she was tortured to death.
After she was abducted, the 610 Office members ransacked the home of her parents. Her parents were in their 80’s. Her father died in mid February 2005 due to the pressure from the harassment he had received, and her mother became so frightened by the persecution that she is still afraid to see any strangers.
