Mr. Li Changru, male, 52, lived in Baotun Village, Taihe Town, Heishan County, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 because he was suffering from many illnesses. He gradually recovered from all his illnesses after practicing Falun Gong.

In October 1999, Mr. Li went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained at the Heishan County Detention Center. One month later, he was transferred to the Taihe Town Police Station for further brainwashing, where he was threatened, and then released on bail after his family was extorted of approximately 7,000 Yuan. After returning home, the village administration often came to his home to harass, threaten, question, ransack his house, or monitor him. Such harassment deeply traumatized Mr. Li both physically and psychologically during the past several years of the persecution. He died on January 27, 2005.
